The Effectiveness of Group Art Activity on the Children's Self-esteem and Communication at Community Child Center

|
This study aims to examine the effectiveness of group art activity on the children's self-esteem and communication. Also this study would lead to fine out essence of experience among children. Group art activity was conducted to 5 participants during 5 sessions from May to June 2010. Analysis methods were Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test, qualitative case study and Collazzi's phenomenological method. The pre and post Wilcoxon signed Ranks test showed statistically significant improvement about the self-esteem. Self-esteem, communication and self-expression were improvement at qualitative case study. This study has drawn 3 themes cluster by Collazzi's method. The results were as follows; First, they come to respect myself after throwing off the bleak appearance. Second they could do clear communication after eliminating the negative words. Third they could do honest self-expression after revealing hidden intentions. Therefore group art activity was proved to be effective for the children at community child center.
